Launch: 1-DAY ACUVUE® MOIST® Brand MULTIFOCAL

1-DAY ACUVUE® MOIST® Brand MULTIFOCAL with LACREON® contact lenses were officially launched in April and at the event was the brand ambassador, Zoe Tay who gave candid insights into what it was like living with Presbyopia and shared how she overcame it to fully embrace life as a mother, wife and actress. 

This new series were the latest addition to ACUVUE®'s wide range of disposable contact lenses.
What is Presbyopia?
Presbyopia is an age-related condition associated with a loss of elasticity of the lens inside the eye, which results in a reduced ability to see near distances. This condition occurs gradually and naturally to everyone above the age of 40 - and in some rare cases due to genetics, in their late 30s - and is a condition that is irreversible and worsens with age. This could also happen to those who have undergone LASIK surgeries for myopia before the onset of Presbyopia.
People with Presbyopia struggle with performing the simplest of tasks, some of which include difficulty in reading fine print, strained eyes and headaches after focusing on near objects for prolonged periods, and the need to hold reading material at an arm’s distance to focus properly.

Latest survey results indicate that 85% of the people experience potential symptoms of Presbyopia and only 27% tried to seek professional support. 49% of them know that Presbyopia will occur even after LASIK while 59% are unsure or have wrong perception that Presbyopia is preventable. 53% of the people are unaware that there are currently multifocal contact lenses out in the market. Results also show that 70% of them are actually interested in trying out these contact lenses.

What are Multifocal Contact Lenses?
These lenses aim to help individuals overcome Presbyopia by providing them sharper vision and comfort to their eyes at the same time.

To increase awareness for Presbyopia as well as the Multifocal lenses, ACUVUE invited Queen of Caldecott Hill, Zoe Tay to share how she combat Presbyopia with 1-DAY ACUVUE® MOIST® Brand MULTIFOCAL and live sharper than ever.

At the event, we went through an experiential journey that highlighted the problems that individuals in their 40s could come across.

One of the initial symptoms of Presbyopia is blurry vision. 
I kind of feel that I have premature Presbyopia too but then again, I have myopia (short sightedness) to begin with so all the words on the signages put in a distance would already appear blurry to me. If the words are large and bold enough, I could see and read them but if they are in fine print, I could not.

After the 1st experience of the blurry words on signages, we were brought up close to see with our own eyes at what world could be like with Presbyopia. That is, reading blurry fine prints.
With myopia, I'm alright with reading small prints in a near distance. But like I said earlier, I have problem reading fine prints in a distance. Thinking back, I remembered I could still read fine prints if they are large enough in a distance but now I find many are blurry to me, even when they are medium large and bold. (u_u")

After the experimental journey, the session brought us into the science behind Presbyopia and the ACUVUE® range of multifocal contact lenses with Sabrina Hsieh, Head of Marketing for ACUVUE®,  Shirley Loh, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Associate Director of Professional Affairs and Oh Shwu Ji, Store Manager & Optometrist of Specialist Eye Care Centre.
Introducing the new 40s

I like shields which I use everyday to have high UV protection (like clothes/ brolly/ sunscreen) so this is one lens I would definitely get should I have symptoms of presbyopia in near future. ^,^
